Licia Langford - Sakonnet Country Club 2015

Licia was an avid golfer and a member at Pawtucket Country Club for many years. She was the first female on the Tollman High School golf team. She won the PCC club championship 3 times.  She participated in as many of the RIGA women’s events as possible all over the state of RI; including the team matches and the Endicott events. She participated in women’s golf trips in the off season.  She loved competition as well as making golf as fun as possible.  She founded and organized the annual Pawtucket Country Club Invitational.  She always wore the most fashionable golf outfits and had a contagious laugh which made her very popular and memorable.  She was the wife of Jamie and the mother of Tara who both adored her.  Her parents Leon and Sue were golfers as well as both of her brothers Leon and Steve.

Licia developed pancreatic cancer in May of 2014.  She received treatment and participated in clinical research trials at The Miriam Hospital Cancer Center.  She participated in the Pancreatic Cancer walks and golfed until 2 months before her passing.  Her last putt was a birdie at the Metacomet RIGA mixed tournament with her brother Leon as her partner.  She survived with the disease courageously for 2 years and 6 months.  She passed away on
October 19th, 2016. She is greatly missed by all who knew her.

In the spirit of Licia, we are carrying on and holding a tournament to honor her memory.  She would be so happy to see everyone enjoying Pawtucket County Club (wearing purple -the pancreatic cancer color and blinging it up- Licia style), her home away from home.
